Brexit – “Power in your hands”

Holly Johnson tried to express his thoughts about Europe in a song called “Europa”. Completed in 2014, it goes back to 1990 when the wall came down and the beautiful song expresses the kind of optimism we also need today.

Holly Johnson – Europa

Europa – the time has come
We just need a vision
To try something new
Throw out all divisions
Now we talk to Europa

Warsaw city
No more nations
Continent
Urbanisation

Europa – after the shame
Things will never be the same
The walls are down
Our hope is new
See the light come shining through
Now we talk to Europa

Sue all the wars
Down endless corridors
We must beware
The double men who double dare

Through the machine age
Over the moon
Surviving the terrors
Large as they loom

Out of the trenches
Out of the rain
Out of the bunker
Free of the shame

Europa – power in your hands
We’ve lived through all the changes
Now we’ve had enough
Of being perfect strangers
Now we talk to Europa

Europa – after the rain
Things will never be the same
The walls are down
Our hope is new
See the light come shining through
Now we talk to Europa

Europa
New vision
Europa
Your decision
Europa
No count over us
Europa
Rise above
Now we talk to Europa

(C) by Holly Johnson, Pleasuredome

Originally it was written in Paris by Johnson and Vangelis, right after the fall of the Berlin Wall 1990. 2014 they decided to finish the album in collaboration with Marc Ralph, which they started 24 years earlier in an underground studio on the edge of Bois de Boulogne, a studio which originally was constructed for Hitlers occupation.

1990, 2014 as well as 2016 the song „Europa“ of this Album is more up-to-date than ever.
